Study with Sara

For as long as she has performed on stages around the world, Sara Gazarek has also dedicated herself to teaching, guiding students of all ages toward greater artistry, confidence, and authenticity. Education has been a defining thread throughout her career. She spent more than twelve years on faculty at the University of Southern California, mentoring hundreds of young singers and helping shape one of the nation’s leading jazz voice programs. Today, she continues that work at the Eastman School of Music, where she serves as Associate Professor of Jazz Voice and directs the school’s new Jazz Voice degree, which she designed from the ground up within the Jazz and Contemporary Media department.

Her teaching has taken her across the globe to music festivals, jazz camps, universities, and private workshops, and her students range from young beginners to emerging professionals and established musicians. Sara’s approach blends healthy and sustainable vocal technique with musical intuition, emotional honesty, improvisation, stylistic fluency, and thoughtful guidance on what it means to build a meaningful life in music.

For students interested in pursuing a degree and studying with Sara at Eastman, the Jazz Voice program offers a close-knit, individualized course of study built around tailored one-on-one instruction, ensemble performance, composition and arranging, and functional vocal pedagogy, all within one of the most respected conservatories in the country. Enrollment is intentionally limited, allowing each student the attention and mentorship needed to develop their own artistic voice. You can learn more about the program and apply here.

Private Study

For artists who wish to study privately, Sara offers remote one-on-one lessons via Zoom, scheduled at a mutually convenient time. Sessions are tailored to the student and may explore vocal technique, improvisation, arranging, original composition, repertoire development, song interpretation, band-leading skills, or general artistic growth.

Sara also works with musicians who are seeking direction in the professional world, offering music business consulting for those interested in developing their careers, preparing releases, navigating the industry, strengthening artistic identity, or building sustainable long-term strategies. These sessions are held remotely via Zoom as well, and scheduled at a time that works for both parties.

Currently enrolled high school and undergraduate students may take advantage of a discounted student rate for private lessons. Non-students, professionals, and hobbyists are also welcome to book sessions at the standard rate. If you are interested in group or ensemble coaching, Sara is happy to arrange customized sessions for vocal groups, jazz choirs, combos, or classroom settings.
